Over 100 Members and Employer Representatives gathered in Lae on Friday, 24 April 2026, as Nambawan Super Limited (NSL) brought its Employer Conference to the Lae International Hotel.
Following the successful Annual Employer Conference held recently in Port Moresby, the focus remained the same; connecting directly with Members and Employers to strengthen understanding, build trust and improve long-term retirement outcomes.
Opening the session, NSL’s Chairman, Mr. Richard Simanoi welcomed participants and reinforced the importance of these engagements as a platform for open dialogue, shared understanding, and partnership.
“Engagements like this are about bringing the conversation closer to our Members and Employers. It is important that we continue to connect, listen, and ensure everyone understands the role they play in achieving stronger retirement outcomes,” he said
Throughout the session, NSL’s Board and Executive Management shared updates on the Fund’s performance and outlined its strategic direction for the years ahead, mirroring key themes presented during the Port Moresby conference. Discussions focused on sustaining growth, strengthening governance and continuing to improve Member services in an increasingly complex operating environment.
For Members, the session provided practical insights into how their superannuation works, reinforcing the importance of long-term savings, accurate information and active engagement with the Fund. For Employer Representatives, the discussions highlighted their critical role as the link between NSL and its Members, supporting contributions, maintaining updated Member data and promoting awareness across their workforce.
Complementing the session was a mini-exhibition set up at the poolside outside the conference centre, designed to add value to attendees while promoting greater awareness of NSL’s investee companies and key stakeholders. The informal setting created a conducive environment for Members and Employers to engage directly with NSL teams and partners, ask questions, and gain a
deeper understanding of the Fund’s services, investments, and the broader network supporting their superannuation outcomes.
This added layer of interaction reflects NSL’s approach to engagement, moving beyond presentations to create opportunities that make their interactions with Nambawan Super more visible, practical, and relevant through accessible, face-to-face experiences.
NSL Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lachlan Baird said, “The exhibition component is an important part of how we engage. It allows Members and Employers to have direct conversations, ask questions and better understand how the Fund supports them beyond the conference room.”
The Lae engagement builds on earlier visits by NSL’s leadership to local Employers, institutions, and students, reinforcing the Fund’s commitment to connecting with stakeholders at every stage, from future Members preparing to enter the workforce to Employers supporting their employees and Members actively planning for retirement.
NSL encourages Members and Employer Representatives to continue engaging with the Fund and to take advantage of future opportunities to learn more about their superannuation and plan for their financial future.
