Perimeter Fence at 92% completion
Since the last update in January 2025, the fencing project has experienced delays due to the unexpected weather, particularly heavy rainfall in the 9-Mile area. The persistent wet conditions have impacted site access and construction progress.
As of Monday, 07 April 2025, approximately 11,600 meters of fencing has been completed, with the final 450 meters underway. Our team is closely monitoring the weather to ensure work continues safely and as efficiently as possible.
The fencing project requires the construction of five (5) culverts that are yet to be fitted due to weather conditions. The culverts need to be constructed before fencing around them can be completed. The project team expects all work to be completed before end of May 2025, subject to weather conditions.
This will mark the completion of the first phase of NSL’s development plans, the aim of which has been to fence off and secure the asset to allow the Fund to work through the preliminary stages.
Development Time Frame
It is evident that there is a lot of work involved before the Land Portions can be developed. The Fund would like to reiterate that development projects, particularly those of significant scale such as these, do not happen overnight, and require careful planning, collaboration and time.
The process involves multiple steps, and the coordination and involvement of various internal and external stakeholders and suppliers, each of whom have their own internal processes and timeframes. While NSL is committed to delivering this project as soon as practically possible for the benefit of its 235,888 Member, it is reliant on the external parties and the efficiency of their internal processes. We are also acutely aware that we have no control over the internal process and efficiency of the relevant authorities and other external stakeholders that will be involved throughout the process. Common delays experienced here, will have a direct impact on the project’s delivery.
It is also important to understand that, as with all NSL projects, the Fund intends to complete each phase fully, correctly and to the highest standards and quality. This approach is critical in order to achieve the best possible returns for our Members.
Trespassers will be Prosecuted
Obtaining Vacant Possession of the Land Portions mean that Nambawan Super’s property is now vacant and the Fund can carry out its development plans as the rightful owner. Nambawan Super will not entertain any squatters looking to illegally settle on its vacated land portions. Anyone found to vandalise billboards or any other NSL properties on the land, including the boundary fencing and or removing building materials, will be prosecuted by law enforcement authorities.
Beware of fraudulent sales
Nambawan Super wishes to remind the public to be cautious of individuals falsely claiming to be NSL representatives and offering land for sale. DO NOT entertain any claims by individuals selling land ‘on behalf’ of Nambawan Super, as these are unauthorised and illegal claims. NSL will not be held liable for fraudulent sales.
Nambawan Super urges buyers and sellers of land to be aware of the risks associated with fraudulent sales. It is very important to conduct proper checks and do your due diligence to confirm land ownership first, before you buy or decide to invest in building semi-permanent or permanent structure.
If approached by anyone falsely claiming to sell land on behalf of Nambawan Super you are advised to immediately report the incident to the 9-Mile Project Site Team by contacting 180 1599 or email: CallCentre@nambawansuper.com.pg
In the coming months, Nambawan Super will continue to keep its Members and stakeholders informed of its progress surrounding the development of its 9-Mile land and key milestones achieved.
