Nambawan Super Limited (NSL) continues to empower its Members through its Free Financial Literacy Training (FLT) Program, equipping Members with practical knowledge and skills to make informed decisions today and into retirement.

For almost five years, since its launch in 2021, Nambawan Super’s Financial Literacy Training has delivered this program to over 15,000 Members and continues to see a growing interest from Members to attend this program. The same sentiment goes for NSL Employers who are now arranging this important program for their employees.

NSL Chief Executive Officer Mr. Paul Sayer commented, “Over the last 6 months, about 3,500 Members have attended FLT, representing a total of 17 Employers across the country, including; Department of Education, Police, Department of Prime Minister and NEC, National Gaming Control Board, National Parliament, PNG Ports Limited, Department of Works and Implementation, National Statistics Office, NAQIA, PNG Fire Service, Milne Bay Provincial Administration, Aiyura National High School, Maprik Secondary School, St Martin Primary School, PNG NRI and Choice Super Members from the Small Holder Block Oil Palm Farmers.”

“Papua New Guinea does not have a social security system, and our Members often find it challenging to save due to cultural demands and the high cost of living. Many employees who are NSL Members tend to spend all their wages taking care of their families and managing day-to-day living, without considering saving for life after employment.”

“Nambawan Super’s FLT program encourages Members to think about saving more throughout their working life to ensure a financially secure and comfortable retirement. By learning how to manage their income and personal finances, Members will be better prepared to utlilise their savings to buy or build a home, run an MSME or simply enjoy a comfortable retirement.”

“NSL also conducts a post survey after each session to gauge feedback and understand what our Members have learned after attending the program and suggestions for improvements. The general sentiments so far indicate that NSL Members are beginning to recognise the importance of planning for retirement, appreciate the value of budgeting and consciously made decisions such as increasing their superannuation contributions through the Voluntary Contributions product.”

“As the Trustee for over 235,000 Members, our purpose is to help Members achieve their best retirement outcomes and retire with financial security and dignity.”

“We aim to continue working with stakeholders and our Employer groups to encourage more Papua New Guineans to prioritise their retirement savings and utilise our superannuation products to help build a better future,” he added.
